The Travelling Sketchbook comes to Cookham Village
Tutor: Barry HernimanCourse Code: 0826-08
Summary
A great chance to hone up your 'sketching' skills working 'en plein air' in and around the Cookham environs. Learn some new techniques as you explore the area and respond to your own chosen subject. Spend an exciting two days sketching in your desired medium be it watercolour, pastel, coloured pencils or anything that will make a mark!! A super opportunity to 'loosen up' and enjoy your art. There are subjects galore in and around the Centre and the Thames is a short walk away so there is a wide choice of sketching projects.
Description
Although I will be working mainly in line and watercolour in my sketchbook I will also be able to assist students who wish to use alternative mediums. All work will be done in the sketchbook so we will all be 'singing from the same hymn sheet' so to speak.
We will be sketching en plein air at every opportunity but have the option of painting indoors in a conference room if the weather turns nasty. I will be recommending students bring along their sketchbooks for these workshops and I will also be demonstrating the Fude Bent nib pen which is a super sketching tool. For those who would be interested in purchacing one please contact Will at Missenden School of Creative Arts who will have the product information and price etc.
Please bring with you
I suggest you bring your usual materials and kit and I can go through it with you on the day . Painting outside presents its own challenges as well as what equipment to bring that will make the event more comfortable. Folding chairs, easels etc are a common piece of equipment but you will be sent my Information sheet when you book which lists all my materials, equipment and working method.
Although there are many fine vistas and views in and around Cookham, I am keen for you to explore a wide range of subjects so, weather depending, some subjects may be a short walk into the countryside, down to the river or into the village itself.
The following items can be purchased from your tutor
Please bring all your other painting materials paints, brushes, pens etc. with you as these will not be supplied.

I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Missenden Abbey is a beautiful location and we made good use of the grounds for our sketching.
