Liberating Log Cabin Patchwork - NEW VENUE
Tutor: Janice Gunner MA MSDCCourse Code: 0626-04

Summary

Create a unique piece of patchwork to frame or make into a panel for a bag, cushion cover or placemat. You will be working with beautiful Japanese Indigo fabrics from a kit and my book Liberating Log Cabin. I will guide you on how to make this stunning version of Log Cabin patchwork by machine.

Description

You will learn about use of colour, placement of contrasts, improvisational rotary cutting of fabric, piecing, quilting by hand and machine and finishing off your work. My aim is to give you confidence to experiment and possibly go on to make larger items such as a quilt at home.

Please bring with you

Sewing Machine, power lead and foot pedal!
Navy blue 50 count thread for piecing – I use Aurifil or Superior Threads Masterpiece
Rotary Cutter, Mat and 6 inch x 12 inch (minimum) rule
Sewing kit to include: Pins, Scissors, Quick-un-pick, hand sewing needles etc.
Notebook and Pen/pencil & Camera

If you prefer to bring your own fabric you will need:
8 - 10 fat quarters of fabric for the block - include 1 contrast colour
1/2 metre of plain toning fabric to your fat quarters
15 inch square of wadding
15 inch square of backing fabric (or another fat quarter)
Thread to go with your fabric

Copies of my book will be available to purchase for you to work from – I wil not be providing a handout.

The following items can be purchased from your tutor

Complete Kit for the project to make 1 x 12 inch (approx.) patchwork block. Kit includes all fabric (including precut strips), wadding and backing fabric and a copy of my book, Liberating Log Cabin - £40.00
