When Art meets Craft
Tutor: Jackie Devereux Course Code: 3324-04
Summary
This one day extravaganza is all about gaining confidence with watercolours whilst using up paintings which have not quite made it to the frame for one reason or another. Languishing under the bed is now a thing of the past! We shall magically revive or just start again……making simple experimental marks on paper, taking chances and surprise discoveries. Entering the world of Japanese Origami folding in the simplest way, boxes will emerge as if from nowhere.
Description
This one day extravaganza is all about gaining confidence with watercolours whilst using up paintings which have not quite made it to the frame for one reason or another. Languishing under the bed is now a thing of the past! We shall magically revive or just start again……making simple experimental marks on paper, taking chances and surprise discoveries. Entering the world of Japanese Origami folding in the simplest way, boxes will emerge as if from nowhere. Taking the basic shapes one step further by learning some very simple folds, rolling, folding, shredding, cutting and twisting will enable you to enter another world. Making these small but perfectly formed boxes will revolutionise ideas for packaging- cash for teenage birthdays - hand made truffles - a beautiful handkerchief - charity shop treasure……or perhaps dinner party gifts or wedding favours to WOW the guests! Who can resist?
Please bring with you
Some very basic watercolours either a tin or just three tubes - red, yellow and blue

Tutor
Jackie Devereux

Jackie is a full time professional artist as well as qualified and very experienced adult tutor, whose unique work is greatly influenced by Japanese art as well as the light of southern France which was her home for over twenty years. Jackie’s award winning work ranges from pure large contemporary works on paper, to delicate pencil, to expressive pen & ink and mixed media - all experimental in nature. She has travelled the world, always with the intention of capturing people and places as she goes. As drawing is an integral part of her work, Jackie enjoys working with groups and sharing her ideas and techniques, encouraging others to develop their own potential. Jackie’s work is well published and collected internationally. She has been a regular contributor to The Artist Magazine, has exhibited widely throughout the UK and France, as well as in the USA and Japan. She has shown with the RWS, RI and with the Society of Graphic Fine Art, variously in Menier Gallery, Southwark; in Mayfair, Bankside and The Mall Galleries in London, and was elected and served as President of the SGFA for five years. Her work is shown in Mandells Gallery, Norwich; The Gallery at Waterperry House, Oxford, and often in Babylon Gallery, Ely and Gallery Holt, Holt, Norfolk.
