The Travelling Sketchbook comes to Missenden
Tutor: Barry Herniman - NEW TUTORCourse Code: 3422-04

Summary

A great chance to hone up your 'sketching' skills working 'en plein air' in and around the Missenden environs. Learn some new techniques as you explore the area and respond to your own chosen subject. Spend an exciting few days sketching in your desired medium be it watercolour, pastel, coloured pencils or anything that will make a mark!! A super opportunity to 'loosen up' and enjoy your art.

Description

Although I will be working mainly in line and watercolour in my sketchbook I will also be able to assist students who wish to use alternative mediums. All work will be done in the lovely stitched hardbound sketchbook which we will be providing to everyone attending the workshop so we will all be 'singing from the same hymn sheet' so to speak.

Please bring with you

As we will be painting outside at every opportunity please bring with you any equipment that will make the experience more comfortable.
I carry all my painting gear in a rucksack plus my lightweight Herring Versatile Easel and a lightweight folding chair with a backrest as I find standing for long periods very uncomfortable. I suggest that students bring all their kit on the day and I can go through it with them and whittle it down.
As everyone will be getting a sketchbook each there is no need to bring paper, pads etc as EVERYTHING will be produced in the sketchbook. My Info Sheet will be sent to you on booking.
Although there are many fine vistas and views in and around The Abbey and its grounds, I am keen for you to explore a wide range of subjects so, weather depending, some subjects may be a short walk from The Abbey into the countryside or into the village itself.

The following items can be purchased from your tutor

You will be provided with a sketchbook at the start of the course.
Please bring all your other painting materials paints, brushes, pens etc. with you as these will not be supplied.
