Linocut meets Painting
Tutor: Jessica RoseCourse Code: 3422-09

Summary

Painting and printmaking don't often combine together but we will be melding two completely different disciplines with stunning results. A must for anyone who's wondered how to take their skills in linocut further.

Description

Explore a new way to add colour to your linocuts. We will hand-colour your linocuts using watercolour or acrylic to create 'varied edition' prints. Linocut is one of the most accessible forms of printmaking, used by many famous artists including Picasso. You will learn how to create bold, expressive images by carving into a lino block and printing it in rich oil-based ink. And then we will take it a stage further by adding paint to your prints.

Please bring with you

Some materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £15 each (including lino block, ink, Japanese paper, window mount for your finished print and newsprint paper), payable to the tutor during the course. This fee doesn’t include linocutting tools, which you can either buy in advance yourself or purchase from the tutor for £12 per set (NB If you want to buy tools from the tutor please let her know two weeks before the start of the course so she can order them)
