People Portraits with Watercolour and Coloured Pencil
Tutor: Jonathan NeweyCourse Code: 3422-07
Summary
This is a three day course that will show you how to achieve the texture, colour and character of people using watercolour and coloured pencils (crayons). Using photos supplied and after tracing down the outline you will be shown how to mix the skin tones and then paint the basic colours of the eyes, hair and skin with the watercolour. You will then be shown how to use the pencil to add detail and texture.
Description
Skills and techniques learnt will include mixing colours, how to use the brush, light and dark tones, lifting and blotting, shading in a particular direction and how to achieve texture and detail with the pencils. By the end of the course you will have produced two at least one painting and started a second one.
This is an ideal course to learn how to draw and paint people portraits with watercolour and coloured pencil. Each exercise will be demonstrated by the tutor step by step and the course will be run in a friendly, non pressured environment where the tutor will be on hand to encourage and inspire. Ideal for beginners and people with some knowledge of the mediums. This course is an ideal stepping stone to other courses run by Missenden School of Creative Arts where you could develop your drawing and painting skills further.
