During this course we will study plum blossom and bamboo in the freehand style, along with brush strokes and ink techniques, to enable participants to build the structures of the subjects and to capture and depict the expression of the spirit, to create a winter scene of flowers and plants. We will also look at techniques for painting snow using colour and wash.
This course is for anyone who is interested in Chinese flower and bird painting, in particular the winter plants of plum blossom and bamboo. Using the free-hand Chinese style, with tutor demonstrations and instruction, and lots one of one-to-one guidance, you will learn the techniques suitable for this subject, referring to historical masterpieces. You will explore and practise the brush strokes and ink arrangements that will enable you to build the structure of the subjects as well as the expression of spirit, to create beautiful and sensitive art pieces.

Chinese brushes Chinese ink and colour Sized paper and unsized paper Felt or old blanket (about 1 square metre) 2 or 3 white dishes to be used as palettes
This course is suitable for all levels, but some knowledge of Chinese brush painting would be helpful.
