This accessible form of printmaking has been used by artists including Picasso and Matisse. Working with an experienced printmaker, you will quickly be able to create bold, expressive images. We will cover planning your design, creating your linocut block, mixing colours, registration and printing (both by hand and on a press).
Linocutting can be quite hard on the hands so please bear this in mind if you have any problems with your joints. You may need to rest your hands regularly.
We will be working with oil-based inks, which take a few days to dry, so if you want to take wet prints home at the end of sessions it may be easiest to transport them by car.*
Please also be aware we will be using white spirit to clean lino blocks and perspex sheets at the end of sessions.
*If you are travelling by public transport, don't worry, but let us know and we can sort something out.
Please bring with you
Printing materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £12 each (including two lino blocks each, inks, newsprint paper, tracing paper) payable to the tutor during the course.

- Pencils and rubber
- Source material, such as your own photographs and sketches, to help you create an image to print
