Summary
A creative course in which you will use found objects and china to mosaic a board, a pot, a frame - whatever your imagination comes up with! You will be guided through your own individual project to create a unique piece to take home. This is an opportunity to use all those bits and pieces you've been collecting over the years: the pieces of china you dug up, the buttons you didn't like to throw away, the shells and pebbles - whatever you can come up with!
Description
You will learn the following skills:
- How to design and plan your mosaic.
- How to cut mosaic pieces.
- How to apply mosaic.
- How to grout and finish off your work.
Please bring with you
Please bring with you any found objects and broken china that you might like to use. Also bring along anything you might like to apply mosaic to, e.g. planters, vases, mirror frames, et cetera. Be prepared to be flexible in using these! (Base boards will be available on the course.)

Rosalind Wates

Rosalind Wates is an experienced mosaicist, renowned for her public art projects up and down the UK. She works in a variety of styles and materials, mainly to commission: her clients have ranged from film stars and billionaires to public bodies and local communities. Although versed in traditional mosaic techniques, she constantly explores the creative possibilities of the medium to produce new work. As well as producing mosaics, Rosalind also teaches and has carried out TV and radio work. Her book, The Mosaic Decorator’s Sourcebook, has been translated into several languages and is sold worldwide. www.rosalindwates.co.uk
