Design and create your own Crochet Motif
Tutor: Jane CrowfootCourse Code: 1019-04
Summary
Jane will start by talking you through her own design process and will then illustrate the basic skills of designing a motif from scratch. Using a visual inspiration such as a postcard or image, participants will then work on creating their own crochet motif that could subsequently be turned into a larger project.
Description
During the next stage of the workshop Jane will talk through the basics of crochet design when working in the round. This will involve some simple maths and calculations, but is nothing too strenuous!
Once participants have got the basic info they will be shown how to work a crochet motif in the round that echoes their own inspiration, be that a postcard, a photograph or an image found on line.
During the final part of the workshop participants will set about turning their crochet into a ‘proper’ motif, which could be used as part of a larger project.
Participants will learn:
How to calculate stitch counts and crochet tension.
How to create a uniform motif in the round.
How to add corners and details such as bobbles, puffs and beads.
How to choose the correct combination of stitches to create desired shapes.
Jane will also talk about how to choose colours and how to decide on joining techniques.
Please bring with you
