Summary

Through the tutors introduction and demonstration and followed by individual supervision beginners will learn the basic skills to paint some summer flowers and insects in two different popular and practical ways: freehand and meticulous styles.on sized Rice Paper or Silk. More experienced learners will benefit from the tutor s supervision to develop further their preferred areas and painting subjects. The course will be conducted in an encouraging and relaxed way.

Description

This course will show you how to paint summer flowers such as roses, irises, and butterflies etc. in two different painting ways: free-hand style and meticulous style.
For beginners, you will learn how to:
Hold brushes properly;
Mix ink and colour with different tones in one brush stroke for petals and stamens;
Use fine brush to draw out lines.
For the more experienced, you can enjoy the pleasure of painting the same flowers and insects in different ways and styles, explore and compare the difference and variety and even combination.
After the course, you are able to choose your preferable way and style to create your own pieces of work, making your art life more interesting!

Please bring your own painting materials if you have them.
For those who haven’t got any of their own materials these can be purchased from the tutor at reasonable price of  about £30 - £38.
Some Chinese brushes;
Chinese painting colour;
Rice paper;
Chinese painting ink;
an A2 size art felt or an old blanket or tea towel;
a few saucers for mixing colour;
a water jar.

Your tutor will have some brushes, unsized rice paper, ink and colour for you to purchase at reasonable prices.

Kaili Fu, an art graduate from East China, was a Chinese art teacher in China before coming to England in 1988. Kaili started teaching Chinese Brush Painting to adult classes and exhibiting her work in Devon, the South West and later throughout the United Kingdom.  She was awarded the Devon framer’s cup in 2013 & 2014 and is recognised as a specialist in authentic Chinese Brush Painting and is known as an inspiring tutor.  Kaili feels her lifelong purpose is to introduce and extend knowledge of traditional Chinese painting and techniques to the West.  Kaili holds a City & Guilds tutor qualification and can teach at various levels and combines demonstrations with individual supervision. She approaches her course with professionalism and flexibility.
