Sketch and Keeping a Sketchbook .......
Tutor: Jackie Devereux Course Code: 2018-04

Summary

An opportunity to experience the joys of learning how to see and interpret our surroundings. Throwing caution to the wind, weather permitting we shall venture out and about. The Abbey grounds offer a wealth of subject matter, as does the local village. Also drawing inspiration from everyday objects, working with pen+ink, watercolour and pencil, we shall explore beyond the obvious and develop our own language through observation and experimentation. All levels welcome!

Jackie Devereux

Jackie is a full time professional artist as well as qualified and very experienced adult tutor, whose unique work is greatly influenced by Japanese art as well as the light of southern France which was her home for over twenty years. Jackie’s award winning work ranges from pure large contemporary works on paper, to delicate pencil, to expressive pen & ink and mixed media - all experimental in nature. She has travelled the world, always with the intention of capturing people and places as she goes. As drawing is an integral part of her work, Jackie enjoys working with groups and sharing her ideas and techniques, encouraging others to develop their own potential. Jackie’s work is well published and collected internationally. She has been a regular contributor to The Artist Magazine, has exhibited widely throughout the UK and France, as well as in the USA and Japan. She has shown with the RWS, RI and with the Society of Graphic Fine Art, variously in Menier Gallery, Southwark; in Mayfair, Bankside and The Mall Galleries in London, and was elected and served as President of the SGFA for five years. Her work is shown in Mandells Gallery, Norwich; The Gallery at Waterperry House, Oxford, and often in Babylon Gallery, Ely and Gallery Holt, Holt, Norfolk.
